Ultimate LA

If you’re seeking a strong dose of authenticity in Tinsel Town you’ve come to the right place. From the rooftop hummingbird sanctuary that doubles up as an idyllic remote working spot to the boldest blue beverage to grace our lips and the chic spot that locals flock to for that post-yoga caffeine-fix. Move around like an LA-insider as you unearth our ultimate tucked-away treasures.

The Members Club: Petit Ermitage, Cynthia Street, West Hollywood

A world unto itself, Petit Ermitage is known for transforming West Hollywood into a thriving creative hub. Hidden amongst the abundant leaves of Cynthia Street, entering the members club is like taking a trip down the rabbit hole.  You’re greeted by an eclectic assembly of antiques, art, and rich wooden furnishings. Expect to see Olivia Steel’s statement light sculptures next to Miro and works by groundbreaking local artists as you tread the hallways.

Make your way to the rooftop garden and perch, with your laptop, by the dreamy freshwater rooftop pool, rejoice with Russian-inspired cocktails next to the fireplace, or book yourself in for one of their morning yoga sessions. It’s the ultimate address from which to create, connect, and decompress with unmatched city views. You’re welcome.

Tip: Their rooftop garden has been thoughtfully packed with plants to attract darting blue hummingbirds and a kaleidoscopic array of butterflies. Head there for breakfast, the menu is just as magical as the backdrop.

The Instagram Opportunity: #7575Melrose, Melrose Avenue

You might recognise this eye-popping wall from the hallowed squares of Instagram. Located on a corner of Melrose avenue, next to the American Vintage store, this highly photogenic wall is already a favourite posting hub among celebrities, but it’s also a unique community project run by The Nourafchan Foundation, showcasing the works of local and internationally revered street artists. At any one time you can experience a mesmeric backdrop of works by game-changers like WRDSMTH, Plastic Jesus, and Dirtcobain. Our advice? Go there pick up some Seventies staples from American Vintage and take your best shot.

The Juice: Lifehouse Tonics & Elixirs, Santa Monica and Sunset BLVD

Our favourite juice bar doesn’t serve juices. Walking down the street you could be drawn-in by the interiors alone. Light, bright, with splashes of aquamarine tie dye, their mission is to upend LA’s typical cold pressed juices with their ‘elevated tonics that lift your spirit’. Pick from their menu of steeped elixirs, blended tonics, wellness shots, and probiotic-loaded beverages but make sure you leave a little extra time to appreciate their potent offering of hard-to-pronounce functional ingredients that span from adaptogenic mushrooms to eleuthero, phycocyanin spiraling, cordyceps, chaga, and lakanto.

Tip: We’re still daydreaming of Blue Light Rain’s electric tones.

The Coffee: Alfred Coffee & Kitchen, multiple locations across LA

A Californian cult we want to be a part of. Alfred’s “But first, coffee” slogan is the morning mantra for Angelinos. Drinking in? The decor is undeniably charming.  Floral wallpaper is hand-painted by fashion’s favourite graphic designer @BlandaEggenschwiler while clean, white tiling showcases pink neon lettering illuminating Alfred’s, now prolific,  tagline. It’s Insta-liscious.

Serving Stumptown Beans, a speciality roastery known for their picky and personalised production process and exceptional flavour, you’re safe sticking to their straight-up coffees, but why not get experimental? Alfred’s Sunshine Latte is made with turmeric, ginger, lemongrass, and peppercorn savoured with a milk of your choice. Once you’re completely caffeinated devour a matcha-dipped croissant, caprese sandwich, or tuck into a Yeastie Boys bagel.

Tip: The Alfred Pink Drink is saccharine-hued perfection. A must-try sweet blend of organic strawberry, pomegranate and beetroot blended with vanilla, a touch of cinnamon, and almond milk.
